10 March 1940:
Scharnhorst - newly fitted with twin 15-inch turrets - departs Wilhelmshaven on another raiding mission.

Results:
Returned to port 14 March 1940, having sunk 10 ships for 28,309 tons. The area N of Scapa Flow was swarming with aircraft, and we managed to bag eight of them before turning for home. My one regret is that there were very few awards to bestow upon our flak gun crews once we got back, but I assured them that they would be first in line to receive the next batch of medals allocated to our boat.
