6 March 1940:
Scharnhorst departs Wilhelmshaven on another raiding mission.

Results:
Returned to port 9 March 1940 having sunk 27 ships for an impressive 85,117 tons. We were assigned to patrol practically at the entrance to the Channel, and battled the verdammt MTBs for the first 36 hours, having sighted a lone merchant every now and again. However fortune smiled on us when we caught a CONVOY that had just departed Southend and obliterated it - it had one DD as escort, nothing else - and successfully escaped.

Upon return to port, Scharnhorst was taken into dockyard and rearmed with three twin 15-inch turrets.
