Don't know for others megamod. Btw, you can (and should) script units with mission editor, in .scr and .rnd campaign files. See sh3 mission designer's subforum for this.
Yes, i've experienced some situation where Regia Marina's units (planes and\or ships) attack enemy warships while they were attacking me. In a couple of situation i managed to take enemy escorts close enuoght to italian-controlled docks in nord Africa, and the were attacked by ships patrolling the outside of the dock.
