Once, after doing some evading, I decided to surface without doing a hydrophone and periscope sweep. I instantly started taking damage. Checking external view, I realized I had surfaced
between two destroyers -- one was a few metres ahead of me, one was a few metres astern. I was headed in the same direction as them. I can just picture the scene on the ship behind me...
