My mother and I were discussing the threats and benifits of AI the other day.

Among the topics was the rapidity with which it can compile and organize data to produce a result by comparison to human research.

I postulated that it could be used to solve problems like world hunger by determining the location of the most fertile grounds, the most efficient cities to invest in food processing infrasturcture construction, the most effective locations to develop facilities to disperse food

I also figured that globally, governments could use AI to balance their federal and state budgets, spend and tax more efficiently and lower or eliminate debt quickly.

Eventually, AI could recommend the most efficient air traffic routing, departure and arrival time windows and arrival and departure procedures through complex airspace areas.

or in the case of this article, rapidly accelerate the development of medical treatments, procedures and technologies.

there is a lot of good which could be used to support the development and existence of AI, but like any technology, in the wrong hands, it could of course be used for nefarious purposes.

The new and unknown - a place humanyity has always feard... but also a place we have always ventured into.
