Hmm.... ok, but I think to get the actual mortality rate, you would need to factor in the day the patient gets sick, and the day he dies, which could be weeks later.

Say for example, you take the number of deaths on Jan 29 divided by the number of patients who were reported infected ~7 days earlier.

Wouldn't that be a more accurate rate of deaths? The patient does not die on the day he gets infected. So the number of deaths is always catching up to the number of infected.
