Ubisoft is successful with the "Settlers-Online" F2P browser game.
Ubisoft stated that approx. 2 million users worldwide are playing Settlers-Online, and 5-7% of them are paying users (buying items from the ingame shop for real money). According to Ubisoft CEO this 5-7% are enough to gain provit from the game, because the development- and maintenance costs are many times lower as for a conventional game.
