Default Love of subsims for almost 40 years

Hello fellow skippers. I have had a love of subsims for almost 40 years. I started playing Silent Service(ON TAPE) on my C64. It took me months to understand that how to speed up travel when i had a patrol. I took me a few days to understand how to correct id ships in the manual also. One time i sank so much on a patrol they made me a vice admiral. A friend of mine borrowed the game and then game me the advice of only use torps on destroyers and the gun for other stuff. Also, leave the smaller ships and only go for tanker and troop transports.

In 1984-85 i got the book Red Storm rising by Tom Clancy and later i found the game for my C64, still on tape. It was blood anyoing when the game crashed in the middle of a patrol. It was even more anoying for me after i had a tomahawk strike mission to go after a convoy, but with only torpedoes. I ended up sinking the escorts but lacked the speed to catch the transports and then i just turned off the game.

Then in got a PC and found Silent Service 2 and found that you actually could sink ships while deep. Many destroyers hunting me were sunk that way.

I also think i once i owned Aces of the deep.

Played Silent hunter on DVD and when i found 3 - 4 - 5 on a steam sale i surged ahead and bought them. Now i am a terror of he ocean again.
