Then a short time later I came across a Troop Transport and sank that which showed up in the tonnage score but again a short time later another Troop Transport same direction same heading came along and I sank that but the only thing that counted was the torpedoes I used and ammunition from the deck gun.
The same thing happened with a Large merchant. Has anyone else come across this?

Yeah...

have seen that sort of... behavior, with SH4... as well. Haven't really delved much, into SH5... but, would NOT surprise Me, if it's prevalent in it, as well... of that happening.

As it is, 4 is based off the bones of 3, & well... 5, is based off the bones/carcass of 4... each one, after 3... is just more... bells, whistles & lights Frankensteined, into the 1 before it.

The logic... engine... (& I use that term loosely here, in calling it, logical... ) is majorly... borked. Particularly, where it related to... spawning single targets... be they, merchie's, or warships.

Best advice... keep up with solo targets... if another solo target crops up, not long after you sink 1... best thing to do, is if it is exactly the same, as what you just sunk... then in that case... as what's her name sang of, in 'Frozen'... Let it go.... let it go.

If, it is NOT the same as 1 you sank earlier on... then you should.... SHOULD be safe, to sink it.

Hope this info helps.
