It is with great sadness that I inform you of the loss of U-30 with Captain and crew, 51 in all , sometime on 16 Oct 1941 in CF88 . I had that career going since Aug 1939 . After a convoy attack and being hunted by 3 escorts , I felt safe in surfacing to get ahead of the convoy for round 2 . I saw 2 escorts drift off about 8 or 9 Km's distaint , losing ( forgetting about ) track of escort #3 . Well I found him and he found me too . darn !!!
