Default War Diaries. German Naval Staff Operations Division

http://uboatdata.ussleahy.com/Seekriegsleitung.htm

The Historical Archives of the German Naval Staff was captured by British and American forces in April 1945 and held for many years by the British Admiralty. During 1945-1949, a microfilming program was undertaken in these archives by a team from the Office of Naval Intelligence. In addition to the films, this team acquired some duplicate copies of German documents, various historical studies prepared by German officer after the war, and miscellaneous translations of key German records. The microfilms prepared by the U.S. Navy (about 3900 reels) were transferred from the Operational Archives to the Military Reference Branch of the National Archives in increments between 1968 and 1978.
The collection consists to a large extent of translated German documents, essays and studies relating to the German Navy, and reference documents. Microfilm publications have been prepared for two series that have been of special interest to researchers: English translations of the war diary, Operations Division, German Naval Staff (16 reels) and translations of the German Submarine Command (B.D.U.) war diaries (5 reels).
