A FOOTBALL FEAST
Giving Thanks for Football

Week Twelve in the Subsim Fantasy Football League.

This thread has had 912 views in the past eleven weeks at an average of 82 views per week...and we cant get get one nominationfor the Best of Subsim? C'mon Man.

While you take a minute to ponder why you haven't nominated the thread you're reading each week, I'll just go ahead and give you the run down on all the action thats occurred, and the implications that this week brings as the doors beging to close on those making the playoffs.

Your minute is up.

DONATE TO SUBSIM...AND NOMINATE SUBSIM FANTASY FOOTBALL FOR BEST OF SUBSIM

It was the longest week of football but it was just about all over by Sunday afternoon. Yeah, we had a couple of players still left on Monday night but none of them would prove any consequence in changing the outgames of the games. Lets go aorund the grounds and check out who did what.

The Guns of Hochuli were at home in Sugarland hosting the Drunk Monkeys. Both teams have at one stage, lead the league and having traded the divisional lead in the Surface Skimmers, this match up was prudent to deterine the for and against within the division. Early Thursday morning, Stefan Diggs (WR) was on fire for the Gunners putting up 21 points, only to be countered by the Monkeys Justin Jefferson (WR) matching and increasing the points score. Unfortunately for the Monkeys, Lamar Jackson (QB) was the only other standout for the team as the visiting Drunk Monkeys swung through for the win. In the lowest scoring game of the week, it doesn't matter how many points you score as long as you get a divisional win. Drunk Monkeys kind of stick it the Guns of Hochuli running out vistorious 132 - 94.

Our Match of The Week was the Who Dat Nation hosting the Helmand Nighthawks. The Nation were clear favourites at home to roll their divisional rival the Nighthawks...right up until Mister Chris made three (3) changes to the team, and drew the line between the teams down to single digits. It wasn't going to be a single digit victory though as the newly acquired Dolphins (DEF) put up 18 points, double their expected score to give the Nighthawks the lead. It doesn't hurt to have the #1 QB in the league with Patrick Mahonnes on your team to guide the scores towards a significant margin. In the second occurrence of the weekend, the visiting divisional rival Helmand Nighthawks knock off the Who Dat Nation 158 - 121.

In the Carolinas, the Black Cats were hosting the second English team with the Bosses. Coach FYC has been devoid on the sidelines again this year, and still his team manages to show up and put on a game. As the weeks have trugged on though, their performance has begun to stink like cat litter and left them howling at the bottom of the ladder. The Boss team, having crossed the Atlantic to meet their divisional rival, put on a display as one of two expansion teams this year whom have shown some bark. Amon Saint Brown (WR) put up an astonishing 33 points, supported by Jaylen Hurts (QB) who put up his own 38 points. Those two alone carried the Bosses over the Cats who had two (2) players fail to report from Thanskgiving food poisioning. Final score the Boss Team accounts for the Black Cats 180 - 108.

Our final game of the week was not a US based game, with the Banter Brigade hosting the Austrlaian Taipans. This game was originally slated to be in the US but was moved a couple of weeks ago back to England. Having home field advantage didn't help the Banter this week as they kept the game close, helped by the 49ers (DEF) who scored 20 points. (Our second Defence mention this week.) The Banter's Nick Chubb (RB) was good this week, but paled against Josh Jacobs (RB) for the Taipans. In the fourth game this week where the home team lost, the Australian Taipans run out victorious in England by defeating the Banter 156 - 130.

So where does that leave the league. Lets take this apart beginning with the Sub Simmers division where its a little more clearer.

The Who Dat Nation at 8-4 lead the Sub Simmers division and have the #1 seed in the league. The win by the Helmand Nighthawks this week elevates them to 7-5 and just one game back from the Nation. In the next three weeks the Nation have to play the Bossess, the Banter and the Taipans, while the Nighthawks have to play the Black Cats, the Banter and the Taipans. This division is up for grabs between these two heavyweights. The Boss Team at 4-8 are still in the hunt but need some help if they are to be the second, or third team from this division to make the Championship bracket. The Black Cats at 3-9 with a divisional record of 1-7 are the first team eliminated from the League Championship with this weeks loss. The best the Cats can aspire to is 5th.

Over in the Surface Skimmers division, its a little harder to decipher.

The Australian Taipans are 8-4 in the league and 5-3 within the division. They have an equal number of wins to the league leaders, the Who Dat Nation, but have a better divisional record. In the last few weeks the Taipans have outscored the Who Dat Nation which, if it continues, will decide the league #1 seed on countback.

As if that wasn't messy enough, watch this.

The Guns of Hochuli and the Drunk Monkeys have an equal win - loss record of 6-6, so we go to the first countback. Both teams have an equal divisional record of 4-4, so we go to the second tie breaker. The Gunners have outscored the Monkeys in total point scored this year, by a siginificant margin. The Gunners inherit, by default, the leagues #4 seed and keep their Championship hopes alive, barely, by outscoring the Monkeys. However, both teams have three remaining games to close or extend their lead so we don't need to go into countbacks, again. The Gunners, though leading, precariously poised could fall as far as the #7 seed. Just score baby. The Banter Brigade at 5-7 currently occupy the 7th league seed, but, they can still make the Championship Series with three wins. They would leapfrog both the Gunners and the Monkeys, but they have the toughest schedule to do it in - against the Gunners, the Nighthawks and the Who Dat Nation.

The Match of the Week next week is the unexpected Banter Brigade hosting the Who Dat Nation. The Nation need at least two wins from their last three games to secure the Leagues #1 seed, but they start already as underdogs to the Banter Brigade. A win by the Nation keeps them at least one game ahaead of the Nighthawks while a loss will elevate the Brigade into contention within the Surface Skimmers league, and drag the Nation back to the Nighthawks. A lot is riding on this game, and we'll be there to give you all the highlights.

Each week, (including the week where our post vanished) the Associated Subsim Writers (ASW) will nominated their Most Valuable Torpedo (MVT) of the week, the single player who proved decisive in their teams performance.

There have been some big scores to win this award this year, and this is the second largest indivual score of the year. For the effort of 229 rushing yards, 2 touchdowns, and 6 receptions for 74 yards, for a total of 54.30 points, the Week Twelve MVT goes to Josh Jacobs (RB) of the Australian Taipans.
