PUNTED!
Kicked Some Balls This Weekend!

Week Eleven in the Subsim Fantasy Football League. Six weeks ago if you looked at the Subsim league ladder it looked nothing like what we would expect. Expansion teams leading the pack, and the diehards trailing at sub .500% records. But our league looks nothing like it now.

The traditional heavyweights are beginning to conquer and as we get ready for the longest week of the year, lets give you this very important message first.

DONATE TO SUBSIM...AND NOMINATE SUBSIM FANTASY FOOTBALL FOR BEST OF SUBSIM

In the middle of the pack, the Banter Brigade were hosting the Drunk Monkeys at home in Twickenham...cause no one else is using the stadium for the next month. The Banter are an expansion team trailing just behind the .500% threshold mark. The Drunk Monkeys, perennial favorites starting the season swinging from the trees, but have fallen in a big pile of fecal matter in recent weeks, and were looking to wipe that smell off the red rumps. Both banter and the Drunk Monkeys started the match with one player warming the bench, limiting their total points score to under 100. This actually lead to a game of "forcing backs" as the two kickers scored the most points for both teams. Lat on Monday night the Banter only had San Francisco (DEF) to play and provided they didn't provide a negative score, the Banter's were good. Final score in the King Country, the banter Brigade defeat the Drunk Monkeys in a low scoring affair 93 - 73.

Negative scores from a layer? that doesn't happen in the Subsim Torpedo League does it? Of course it does, and the Helmand Nighthawks kicker Gene Gano (K) showed that two missed point after touchdowns for a -1 score doesn't mean a loss. Playing at Wembley the Nighthawks were hosting the local derby against the Boss team, the Nighthawks trailed the Bosses throughout the weekend. The Bosses may have had Travis kelce (TE) score 41 points on Sunday, but the Nighthawks had both Deebo Samuel (WR) and Denadre Hopkins) still to play out on Monday night. IN a come from just a short distance behind, the Nighthawks who looked like they were in trouble all weekend, pick up the pace to finally get home and defeat the Bosses. Final score in England, the Helmand Nighthawks defeat the Bosses 160-138.

Our Match of the Day this Week was in Sugarland, and much like another game, got swapped out in the third quarter when it became apparent this was over. the Guns of Hochuli who lead the Surface Skimmers Division were hosting divisional rivals the Australian Taipans. With half the Gunners team out on Covid leave, the Taipans began to run up the score. And run up the score they did, the Taipans while getting the wind have had some low scores so this game game them an opportunity to raise their scoring percentage. Final score in Sugarland, the Australian Taipans defeat the Guns of Hochuli 174 - 88

Our final game of the week in Oregon was the Who Dat Nation hosting the Black Cats. Two former Torpedo Bowl champions both teams were off to vastly different starts to the season, the Black Cats taking the league lead while the Nation were languishing towards the bottom. The Nation have put together a systematic approach to their games to not only rise on the standings, but to lead the lead heading into the Thanksgiving weekend. This week they were helped by some poor player selections by the Black Cats, and the bookies closed the books on this one before it even started. It was always going to be "by how much". The Who Dat Nation run out victorious against the Black Cats 132 - 84.

The Who Dat Nation maintains a narrow lead of the league at 8-3. Behind them the Australian Taipans are 7-4. Both the Guns of Hochuli and the Helmand Nighthawks are equal at 6-5 while the Drunk Monkeys and the Banter Brigade are at 5-6. The Bosses come in at 4-7 while the Black Cats bring up the rear at 4-8.

We're going back to Oregon next week for the longest week of football as the Who Dat Nation hosts the Helmand Nighthawks. The Nighthawks trail the Nation in the ladder but as a divisional match this is a potential play off game. Look for our two most successful teams in the league to go at it again with a side servig of cranberry sause.

Each week, (including the week where our post vanished) the Associated Subsim Writers (ASW) will nominated their Most Valuable Torpedo (MVT) of the week, the single player who proved decisive in their teams performance.

Not often we get the highlight a kicker in this award, in fact I can't think of any recent winner. But given the effort put it we could not pass over this one. For the effort of 1 FG 20-29 yards, 2 FG 30-39 yards, 2 FG 40 - 49 yards 1 FG 50+ yards and 1 PAT, for a total of 23 points, the Week Eleven MVT goes to Tyler Bass (K) of the Boss team.
