..AND THE HEAVY HITTERS COME!
But its close...really close!

Week Ten in the Subsim Fantasy Football League. In the first nine weeks you could look at any week this year and go "whatttttt?"...but not this week, this week the league has finally caught out all the anomalies, all the unexpected, and the top four teams have emerged as one would expect.

In which order are those four teams? We'll, stick around and we'll go around the grounds one by one to give you both the top four, and the bottom four, right after this message.

DONATE TO SUBSIM...AND NOMINATE SUBSIM FANTASY FOOTBALL FOR BEST OF SUBSIM

Last week we saw a big scoring win from the Australian Taipans where one of their players scored over 60 points on their own. This week, the Taipans were lucky to score that as a team, as they hosted their last home game before Thanksgiving. Taipans welcomed the visiting Black Cats and this was a game who could get get the lowest score and still eek out a win. Cats started with three (3) players warming the bench not suiting up, and you would think this would have been a stroll in the park for the Taipans. Not so. Aside from Justin Jeudy (WR) who was carted off 10 seconds into the game, their wide receivers and tight end failed to score a single touchdown. Devonte Adams (WR) kept the Cats in the game carrying the team on his shoulder for almost half of the score, but with little to no help, this was always going to be a Cat fall over, and it was just a matter of "by how much." Taipans show how badly they can be to score a win they shouldn't have gotten by defeating the Cats 83 - 78.

In Oregon we had the Who Dat Nation showing that their recent change of jersey colors for Cam McCafferty (RB) wasn't going to slow them down, as they hosted the Drunk Monkeys. The Monkeys have, once again, shown through the front half of the season that they can manage wins even with Coach Thad absent. Not this week though. The Monkeys exceeding their expectations but the Nation were going to have nothing of it as they made some subtle waiver wire changes to give them a formidable team. Doesn't hurt to have Justin Field (QB) score 48 points on their own to help the Who Dat Nation to a handsome 169 - 129 victory.

Two games in England this week before the teams come to Colonies for the Thanksgiving Day turkey shoot. First game where the debutantes this year the Banter Brigade and the Bosses playing at Old Trafford. These two upstarts have turned the league on its head with the defeat of the traditional powerhouses in the league, but it was a day where they would take points off each. In a neck and neck race, the teams traded the lead several times with the Bosses trailing by only 25 points with just Monday night left to play. A seemingly easy task given that they had Jaylen Hurts (QB) and AJ Brown (WR) left to play, the Bosses needed until late into the night and approaching full time before they had a moment 40 seconds from the end of the week when Jaylen Hurts (QB) was sacked. The resulting penalty gave him an opportunity to take run a negative pass play and secure the win. Final score for the Bosses 147.96 to the Banter 147.54, a win by 0.54 points. WOW.

And if you thought that game was close, wait till you see what happened at Wembley when the Helmaned Nighthawks hosted the Guns of Hochuli. Easily, the best game of the season so far, the Gunners ran out early Thursday night to a lead and the Nighthawks just ran them down in the first few minutes on Sunday. Patrick Mahonnes (QB) turned in another dazzling performance and as we rolled into Monday night, looked like the Gunners should surpass this easily. Hold on though, the Gunner were starting both Dallas Goedart (TE) and the Eagles (DEF). Goedart was going to need to score - and continue to score if the Eagles (DEF) were scored against and had points taken away. This fine balance was put to the test where with just 15 minutes of play left in the week, the Nighthawks lead by 1.8 points. With 40 seconds left in the game the Eagles (DEF) recorded a sack and fell over the finish line by the narrowest win of the season. Guns of Hochuli steal a win from the Helmand Nighthawks, 125.06 - 124.64, a difference of 0.42. That's 5 inches on a running play. Wow.

So we mentioned the powerhouses have risen to the top four, lets check them off.

The Who Dat Nation leads the league at 7-3 but have not yet clinched a play off berth. Behind the, two teams at 6-4 are the Guns of Hochuli and Australian Taipans on a count back. One more game back at 5-5 are the Helmand Nighthawks.

These are the four you would expect to be in front.

The bottom four look like this.

The Drunk Monkeys are also 5-5 but loose the count back to fall to fifth place. The Bosses and the Banter come in at 6th and 7th while the Black Cats are holding the tail at 3-7.

Next week we go back to Sugarland for the divisional match up between the Guns of Hochuli and the Australian Taipans. These two teams have fought it out tooth and nail in the past few years to claim the Surface Skimmers Division, in fact, their matches have often set up the winning Torpedo Bowl championship. It will be a packed house as the Gunners run it out once again against their divisional opponents.

Each week, (including the week where our post vanished) the Associated Subsim Writers (ASW) will nominated their Most Valuable Torpedo (MVT) of the week, the single player who proved decisive in their teams performance.

Making their first appearance at this honour. For the effort of 147 rushing yards and 1 touchdown, 4 reception for 16 yards for a total of 30.30 points, the Week Ten MVT goes to Johnathon Taylor (RB) of the Boss team.
