THE MONKEYS CLIMB TO THE TOP!
...and the Nighthawks begin to soar.

Week Seven in the Subsim Fantasy Football League, and even though not a single mod or admin has bothered to explain what happened to our post in week five, we continue to move forward with great football. Poor board management....but great football.

DONATE TO SUBSIM...AND NOMINATE SUBSIM FANTASY FOOTBALL FOR BEST OF SUBSIM

Lets start with the lowest scoring game of the week. The Boss team, a new expansion team this year, was hosting the Black Cats in England. Yeah, we were the only game in England this week. The Bosses were so sure of themselves, they didn't even start a QB or a WR. Maybe they were watching the Black Cats get off the team plan at Heathrow and saw that the Cats only traveled with six starters. This was a game of "how low can you go" but still eeek out a win that was undeserved. It was Aron Jones (RB) who was the sole standout of the match and provided the winning numbers to produce a Boss team victory. Final score in this Under 12 cricket score, the Boss team defeat the Black Cats 102 - 82.

There was no such underscoring in Australia though as the Taipans welcomed the Banter Brigade to town. Having crossed the oceans (plural) and more time zones than they care to count, the Taipans who had been languishing in the league cellar turned up the heat and put their score board back into a working function. The most telling statistic of this game was that Tom Brady (QB) did not throw for a touchdown. Course, he needed to throw for about 12 touchdowns this weekend just to get close case the Taipans went out fast, and were never headed. Final score down under, the Australian Taipans defeat the Banter Brigade 148 - 51.

The Guns of Hochuli have been hot this season - hot hot hot. So hot they lead the league twice for a week at a time. The Gunners welcomed the Drunk Monkeys into town, a team that cannot be taken for granted as one of the best damm 2-12 teams int he world. And this weekend, they showed how they got that reputation as they silenced the Gunners. Gunners. In a low scoring game that still felt like it had some value, the Drunk Monkeys knock off the league leaders 100 - 79.

Our match of the week was a beauty after several Thursday night snooze fests. The Who Dat Nation after adding another Saint from the waiver wire, welcomed the Helmand Nighthawks to Oregon. These two heavyweights have been trading wins for several years in high scoring games, and this one was not exception. The lead of this game changed six (6) times early Sunday, and another three times late Sunday. The Nighthawks were trailing going into Sunday night before Austin Ecklar (RB) put them ahead. The Nation were left only with Nick Folk (K) on Monday night, and lets face it, not even Folk can kick 30 points. The Helmand Nighthawks hand the Who Dat Nation a loss at home be defeating them 167 - 132.

So at the end of seven weeks, which is almost halfway, we have a new league leader.

The Drunk Monkeys return to the league lead with sole possession at 5-2. One game back at 4-3 are the Guns of Hochuli, Who Dat nation and the Helmand Nighthawks. One more game back at 3-4 are the Bosses, the Banter Brigade and the Taipans. Taking over sole ownership of the wooden spoon are the Black cats at 2-5. Three games separate first to last but its the Nighthawks you need to watch....our championship team is playing angry and coming for wins.

Not surprising, we're going to the Nighthawks home ground at Wembley next week when they host the Black Cats. This ones a divisional game with implication for the divisional seeding. While they may have more wins, the Nighthawks start the game as underdogs. Nighthawks have an opportunity to put away the Black Cats and whittle their division down to a three horse race with a win, while the Black Cats need to stay alive for the championship bracket. Its going to be another big game of make believe next week.

Each week, (including the week where our post vanished) the Associated Subsim Writers (ASW) will nominated their Most Valuable Torpedo (MVT) of the week, the single player who proved decisive in their teams performance.

It was a point scoring fest this week and one of the leagues highest point scorer gets the nod. For the effort of passing for 423 yards and 3 touchdowns for a total of 39.42 points, the Week Seven MVT goes to Patrick Mahonnes (QB) of the Helmand Nighthawks.
