-In the 80s the more mature players started to want a more realistic war simulations.
-Their Knight on a white horse was the legendary game developer, Microprose, that was founded by Sid Meier and Bill Stealey in 1982.
-Microprose became known from it's realistic simulations like the Submarine simulator Silent Service.
Silent Service
-The most famous wargame from Microprose is definetly Silent Service.
-Silent Service wasnt that stunning graphic-wise, but it got the player hooked for it's tactical gameplay.
-In Silent Service, the player was in control of an US submarine in the Pacific during the WWII and was tasked to sink Japanese ships.
-The player could plan his attacks from the beginning to the end.
-Especially, the sounds dragged the player to the world of underwater warfare.
F-19 Stealth Fighter
-In 1987, Microprose released one of the best combat flight simulators of the 80s.
-In Stealth Fighter, the player flew a fictive US stealth plane completing various missions during cold war in Europe and in the Middle east.
-F-19 became the new standard for it's realism and it's advanced AI.
