Default Tanker went boom boom..DD went bye bye. Gotta love the fire mod.

Testing campaign in forthcoming V 2.0 TMO Update.

Ran into a 14 ship 6 escort Northbound convoy (Manila-Takao) in August 23 1944.

Decided to attack for fun, conditions for suitable for night surface attack, so moved in. Saw a gap in screen and worked inside, approaching the columns from port and astern. Moved to inside columns...four big tankers in one column...10000 plus tons each.

Moved inside column and turned to port to bring bow tubes to bear. Readied stern tubes (MK 18) also for follow up on large AK in column astern.

At 0045 24 August 1944, fired all six bow tubes.Fired three stern tubes at AK astern saving one for self defense, just in case.

One tanker was hit, erupted in massive fireball. For unknown reasons, only one torpedo hit the second tanker in the forward area, starting a fire but did not sink her. Under fire, USS Haddo raced away dodging fire from merchants and on rushing escorts.

After turning to avoid being cut off by escort, seemed to have the heat off and eased around the scattering convoy, looking to clear area and reload torpedoes

Suddenly APR-1 detected radar signals. A full sized DD, somehow unseen was closing at very high speed and painting Haddo with radar. Haddo went to flank speed and was maneuvered through the scattered ships , having to back track somewhat due to not enough space between to ships to get away. With full zied DD coming at us, matter of time before had to submerge to avoid being ran over or shot up, or both.

Fired the MK 18 in tube 10 in a "down the throat" shot from , which failed to hit (ran below the bow of DD). However it found the previously damaged tanker we hit hit in the bow, slowed and burning, slightly down by her bow. This hit got her in the bunkers, set off the massive explosion expected of a loaded tanker. The DD was close enough off her port side caught her stern on fire, which then caused her stern, loaded down with depth charges to explode.

DD fired off star shells and slowed, fire spreading as Haddo sped into the night. About five minutes later, the DD had a large fire burning stern and amidships when BOOM. Massive explosion, followed by several more. DD sunk by the stern 11 minutes later.

Sunk one 11800 ton GENYO Maru tanker.

One 5500 ton CHIYODA MARU tanker

One Fubuki Class DD.

Gotta love the fire mod.
