S-35 career. I sunk a BB (lucky hit with an MK10, must have hit the mag), and there was a number of escorting DDs. All they did was drop a few DCs on the original launch position, which I managed to run from even in 3kts S-class boat, at 200'. Arguably, there was a layer, but still - I didn't hear any active sonar, all they did was a pass over the launch position.

An hour later a couple of torpedo boats showed up, and started dropping DCs like candies. When I was a few miles away already (heard them on hydrophones and then when I looked at the recording).

Is there any way to make the DDs smarter/more aggresive?

This behavior is also date-influenced in the game in several manners. The main method is by CrewRating= settings for each ship found in a convoy or task force. That setting influences the aggressiveness of the ship involved. Also of significance is the sns file for each ship's included sensors, loaded by date. Early in the war, the sonar might not be mounted. Later, some of the sonars do not go off unless you are already detected by hydrophone. Even later in the war, you might have sonar always sounding. This is of course, influenced by the ship class also. Some of the escorts never get sonar. Some of them are like bloodhounds on a fresh trail, even if you are several thousand yards away...
