After many years I installed SH3 this morning with GWX. The old girl is still first rate! I've been playing all morning. I forgot how much I love this title.
Anyway, I installed to F:\Games\SH3 and it runs fine, so I don't think it matters where you put it. I use SH3 Commander, I don't know if that makes any difference.
Did you remember to delete old SH3 files in My Documents before first launch?
