It was in the first patrol area you're given, I wasn't sure if they were warships until I was fairly close. Should have put my periscope down though, I would have survived otherwise!
But, lessons for the future (wouldn't have been bad if I had managed my firing solution correctly either
). At least I managed to decode my Enigma message prior to that.
