It's kind of fun sending them to the bottom at no risk and it's good target practice, but it becomes redundant and I start to feel sorry for them. There are no "missions" either. Does this change as the game progresses past 42? Do single merchants finally wise up and start travelling in convoys? I don't know what "campaign layers" refers to. Maybe I'm missing something.

Just curious. Having a great game with TMO alone. I can actually be destroyed.
TMO+RSRD will present a lot of single ship encounters. the best path to success is to find the routes that are active and just patrol that area as they wander in and never wander out.

traffic wanes in the later part of the war, with the shipping routes moving west until they hug the Chinese coast and the SoJ.

you will not see many convoys with this set of mods. when you do, jump on them. if they exist, they will follow the same lanes as the single ships do.

if you check out the TMO 2.5 forum, you will see that i posted my run-in with a 20 ship convoy. that was certainly a unique experience.
