Shortly after, boat is approached by a twin-engine A/C from 355°true, no wabos and no machine gun fire. The A/C circles over the boat and flies off on course ESE. Boat remains surfaced.

0817 - Qu.3164AL top right - Diving for FuMB Detection in 100°true (no Magic Eye), E=7300. Just before closing the C/T hatch, a twin-engine A/C is sighted bearing 180°, E=2700. At T=20, 3-4 Waboss behind the boat - at A-Meter no damages.

At T=25 several Wabos off to port and in due course at A-Meter, further Wabos four different times until 1439 - no damages.

1536 - Surfaced from S-Tiefe after 1h 05min. and 3.3nm.

1604 - Qu.3173AL center - Magic Eye Detection and Sighting of A/C in 62°true, E=7000 - in the area of the last attack.
Interrupting Charging Process. A/C is on westerly heading and crosses our stern at a distance of 4200m, when suddenly it turns towards the boat, approaching from 0°true.

1606 - "ALARM!" for Wellington bomber. At T=30 two Wabos off to port.

1608 - At A-Meter another two Wabos behind the boat - no damages. Boat remains submerged.

1644 - Submerged cruise at A-20.

1800 - After dinner, setting for Reception Depth.

1805 - T=20.

1811 - Surfaced from S-Tiefe after 2h 05min. and 6.1nm.

1909 - At A-Meter again Wabos - no damages. Boat remains submerged.

Cmdr.: Strong air patrol in this part of the North-Atlantic. The Magic Eye (and FuMB) has worked well. Still, some A/C seem to have the new rader gear installed, which cannot be detected by our FuMB systems (mostly Sunderlands).

b) Intel-Report: Torpedo boats Jaguar and Greif, escorting heavy cruiser Lützow and light cruiser Nürnberg, arrived yesterday at Altafjord, Norway.
c) OKW-Report: Report from U 510 (Korvkpt. Karl Neitzel) about Op. at coast of Guyana (South America) against convoy BT-6 from Brazil to Trinidad, and the need for a new Pi-2 pistol.

As ordered, have reconnoitered the ice boundary N. of Iceland and in the Denmark Straits. The boundary runs from AE 2231 via AE 2284 to AD 2931 and thence bearing 240°.
