For the follow up James Bond movie to "Goldfinger", namely "Thunderball", the producers had Shirley Bassey sing their penned theme "Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang". A great song too with Shirley really belting out the lyrics.

However it was decided that a softer, more romantic version would be better. And so Dionne Warwick was chosen to record version no. 2.

"Great, that's a wrap"..they probably said......But later on reflection, the song didn't say anything about the film or the title "Thunderball".

....So they had Tom Jones record the now familiar theme "Thunderball". And so the story goes, as he was squeezing out the last notes during recording he collapsed/fainted, and that's the version they went with.
