Tracked a convoy all day to attack on surface at night. Ideal conditions. During approach, suddenly a storm blew in, seas grew heavy with winds, and rain, a light fog. Fortunately, at close range I could still see the ships, so took advantage and moved in for attack. Sunk one merchant. Attempted to set up on another but heavy seas made maneuvering into position difficult. Soon a destroyer was on scene, forcing us to dive. Rather dramatic attack.
