I think that if you ask anybody NOT of the USA what they think the America, most will say strange customs etc. The one I can never understand is the insistence of calling a game of rounders - the world series! Its only play in the USA. The game in its basic form is played by girls in the UK. I like watching Baseball and American Football. Just watched Field of Dreams on Virgin Ultra HD, quite possibly the best sports movie of all time.

Why do Americans insist on Columbus Day and not have Viking Day instead. How could Columbus discover America when the Vikings, Indians and Mayans were there already?

btw, the best part of the movie Field of Dreams is Terence Mann and his description of the effect that baseball has had on the American way of life. i cry every time i hear it.

the movie itself is NOT about baseball but about a baby-boomer regretting the way he treated his father and his dream about making amends, which just happens to be playing catch with a baseball.
