That is true, but remember that the longest hit ever made on a naval target was when Scharnhorst and Gneisenau sank HMS Glorious. Scharnhorst hit Glorious at a range of 26,465 yards, or about 13 nautical miles. And Scharnhorst definitely had the newest, best fire control equipment. |
Wow Sailor Steve, it's obvious you have allot more knowledge on the subject then I do.
I really didn't know that. My motive is not accuracy at the 20 mile range but the
aggressiveness of opening fire at that range. I like the scenario of full steam ahead
into blazing gunfire. And let me mention the awesome effect of the gun flash over the horizon,
its beautiful man!.
