Quiet morning on USS
Ranger CVA-61. Two ship CAP on the cats.
And Tomahawk flight is away! Gulf of Tonkin looks serene as we climb and start our patrol.
Formed up and heading inland a bit. Beautiful morning as you can see, somewhat foggy.
Red Crown alerts us to a handful of MiGs scrambling from the nearby airfield. We get the clear to engage and we break.
Tight turn with a Fishbed - exactly what NOT to do with an F4 (why do I still have my tanks?)
I hit the breaks and he overtakes. I wait until I get a good tone, call "fox two," and smoke him with a Sidewinder.
I bag two more, Tomahawk 2 gets one. Back to home plate after a successful patrol!
