Haley proves 'revenge is a dish best served on a bed of campaign cash': GOP strategist
Quote:
Nikki Haley was expected to give up her pursuit of the presidency following her loss to Donald Trump in both Iowa and New Hampshire — but she didn't.
In a Sunday, January 28 op-ed for MSNBC, Republican strategist Susan Del Percio argues that, instead, the former South Carolina governor is showing that "revenge is a dish best served on a bed of campaign cash."
She writes, "Trump can’t figure her out," and "And he doesn’t like people — much less a woman — steadfastly refusing to cede the stage to him."
Noting one of Trump's recent social media rant's against Haley, the Del Percio emphasizes that "Some of the main targets of Trump’s ire were probably New York City billionaires Leonard Stern, Cliff Asness, Stanley Druckenmiller, Ken Langone and Henry Kravis, all of whom whom are co-hosting a fundraiser for Haley on Tuesday in New York." The Republican strategist adds, "These are the kinds of individuals whose validation Trump has always sought, and they clearly want nothing to do with him right now."
On Truth Social, the former president called Haley "Birdbrain," Del Percio notes, and then he proceeded "to threaten anyone with the temerity to continue pumping dollars into her campaign coffers," writing, "Anybody that makes a 'Contribution' to Birdbrain, from this moment forth, will be permanently barred from the MAGA camp. We don’t want them, and will not accept them, because we Put America First, and ALWAYS WILL!'"
Del Percio emphasizes, "Team Haley immediately jumped on the Truth Social post and used it in a new round of fundraising. As of Thursday afternoon, her campaign said she’d raised over a million dollars off the comments."
