The Iranian strategy supporting Hamas, encouraging Palestinian resistance, talking tough language (not too tough) about Lebanon and other flashpoints, but staying out of harm's way enough themselves not to attract American and Israeli fire (which both countries themselves are not at all keen on). If Iran fires missiles at all, it is usually at rather meaningless targets in Iraq and Syria. As usual, Iran leaves the dirty work to its "proxies," the militant groups in the region that do confront Israel directly. The Houthis in Yemen go their own way much more than, say, Hezbollah. With the Houthis as an unguided projectile, an uncertain future for the Gaza Strip, an explosive situation in the West Bank and an Israeli government that sometimes doesn't care about the U.S., accidents cannot be ruled out that a threat does continue to hang over the Middle East.
