I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. From what you said, this wasn't a cat but rather a member of the family. We have lost " members of the family " like this and it hurts every time. When the time is right, you may decide to give another cat or dog a good home like your cat had.
It won't be the same but every dog, cat, horse or whatever have their own unique personalities. So many animals need a loving forever home and I'm sure you could give that.
