There is something amiss with the mechanic of being sunk in the campaign in 1.09b. Three times in the same campaign I've been sunk(yeh I'm l337 like that), ie no UI and I press Esc and select Abandon Ship in the status screen. Two of those times (not in a row) I got back complete control of the sub on the campaign map instead of starting the "lost at sea/new sub at base" phase. The other one I got the reassignment screen. I even engaged another enemy group and won after the first time it flunked out, even if I did have damage.
