Not always successful here but if I can bring the Mk 37 into their baffles (and I have the torp under the layer and still in its slow "pre-enable" state I can usually enable it to then come shallow/ passive search. The enemies can still somewhat unrealistically notice this, but if you've been lucky and your fish is close enough it can hit them before they crank up to full speed. I will warn you however this does sort of fall victim to what I call the ESP bug where the enemy mysteriously knows he's got a torp behind him even though its in his baffles and not active. The Devs have said that is being addressed though so we'll see how it all goes.

Another tricky thing to do, which really requires some forethought is to lay a trap for them with circle-pattern Mk 37s. Set those up on the line of bearing you think he is going to run to, fire them deep and then have them run shallow circles when the enable and he may not hear them, then put an active fish on him and try to guide it into his baffles, with any luck that's going to flush him into the trap (sometimes with the added bonus of the damage slowing him down enough that he ends up eating the distraction fish aswell). If not, ( and you have a good angle of attack) I find this is the best time to set up Mk 16 attacks because your target isn't going to be zig-zagging anymore.
