As far as the computers, I can't really add much other than what has already been said. However, A single core computer can play silent hunter 2 and 3 fairly well if it's a 2.8 GHZ unit and above with about 2 Gb of Ram. Then it comes down to quality video card

If you plan to try out Silent Hunter 5, then you will need a dual core Computer.

Identify which games interest you and view their Hardware requirements.
Silent Hunter 5 is the newest game out so it will have the highest Computer hardware requirements.

SH 5 has been out long enough that you can get a used computer that will play if at a reasonable price.
