I was reading a wonderful post on Reddit by StarTrekMike,
Silent Hunter (and other simulations) and personal narrative. The last time I'd played a subsim was in the 80's (Gato) and his description of his campaign brought the fun back, even though I clearly remember how horrible the graphics were back then. It was still fun for the story that I wrote around my boat as it traveled the seas.
I've been playing the training missions for Silent Hunter 3 (via Steam), and things are much more complicated than I remembered. But I'm up for some realistic simulation and trignometric functions! I'm grabbing Grey Wolves and MoBo tonight.
Wish me luck.
