Forced ventilation in graphics cards has been one of the greatest innovations in the last years, its a pity to see it go away.
Theoretically I agree... but unfortunately the fan is poorly designed. Right now I'm running a 5970 with that fan and temps are some 60 degree, just for watching subsim.com
Running Silent Hunter shows temps between 85 and 90 degree. Which is not healthy in my book...

Tomorrow it'll be replaced with a fan similar to the GigaByte above and I'll bet temps will drop some 20-30 degree...

The card before this one was a Gigabyte HD5870 with same fanset as Arclights and that never ran above 55 degree running Silent Hunter with max settings.
ATI/AMD could learn a thing or two reg. cooling from Gigabyte!
