I like the Large Modern tanker...

But seriously I've always been a fan of Destroyers. (I hope I don't catch too much flak for saying that
) The Clemson and Fletcher classes come to mind off the bat, but really I like them all. They were probably the most versatile ships of the war. Imagine, 5+ deck guns, 5+ AA guns, 5-12 torpedo tubes, depth charges, and a max speed of 35-40 knots, all at the expense of being able to slip beneath the waves...what a force!
Of course they don't measure up to cruisers or battleships, but those were like floating howitzers
