U-971 (Type VIIC)



In this photo you can see the survivors of U-971 recovered by the HMCS Haida.
Sunk 24 Jun, 1944 in the English Channel north of Brest, in position 49.01N, 05.35W, by depth charges from the British destroyer HMS Eskimo, the Canadian Destroyer HMCS Haida and depth charges from a Czech Liberator aircraft (Sqdn. 311/O). 1 dead and 51 survivors.

U-977 (Type VIIC)


Interned at Mar del Plata, Argentina on 17 August, 1945 after a 66-day submerged trip from Norway. Surrendered to USA in Boston on 13 Nov, 1945. She was torpedoed off Massachusetts on 13 Nov, 1946 during torpedo trials by the US submarine USS Atule.

U-978 (Type VIIC)

Transferred from Trondheim, Norway to Loch Ryan, Scotland on 29 May, 1945 for Operation Deadlight.
