WoS find long lat on map

Hi, I have received a message after sending a stat report. the message was in yellow saying go to Lat 58 50 N Long 3 3 W course 196 investigate. I dont have a clue how this lat long works any way. Atm I saved game and location im at is on the border to AM13/14 my map works with grid references and would be easier for messages to be put in that format. So how do I find those cords on my map? Thanks

Did you just sink something before sending the status report? If so that is where the message is sending you. The Long3 3W refers to the numbers at the top and bottom of your map with the lines running up and down. W means West, N means North. The Lat 58 50 numbers are on the side of your map. In this case, 50 will be almost to the 59 number whereas the 3 would be about halfway between the 3W and 4W. It is good to learn how to read Latitude and Longitude as most ship and convoy messages in your captains log use these locations.

I believe the Lat and Long in the game is different from real life?
Did you use the real navigation?
If so then you should be able to determine the Lat and Long by your own previous locations. Move your mouse there it will show you the numbers.
You can find the grid of Lat Long in the Nav map.
Use the length of the grid to add/decrease to your own position to determine the position of your target. draw a line from that point to determine the course of the target. Get ahead of it and wait.
The grid itself is not acurate. I learned that by missing couple of radio contacts:doh:

Hello Alien1234.

What you got are coordinates. To find the location given you will need to learn how to read them. There is a tool in the modpack (a red like square) which will assist you in doing so.
There is a video POTUS uploaded to youtube which teaches you exactly how to read the position in game. I advice you to watch all of his videos specially if you aim to play with high realism.
Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Qrv9Fhn8fI

In the this video he talks about many charts in game and how to use them. The part about coordinates is more at the end.

Hope this helps. It helped me!

If you scroll in too close you will lose the coordinates. If that is not the problem, check your patches. You can choose different colors for Lat Lon!

Latitude and Longitude are the units that represent the coordinates at geographic coordinate system. To make a search, use the name of a place, city, state, or address, or click the location on the map to find lat-long coordinates.
