Book about arctic sub operations

Since my childhood, when I've seen the movie 'Ice Station Zebra', I was fascinated by sub operations in the arctic during the cold war area....

I've read the (good) book "The Ice Diaries: The Untold Story of the USS Nautilus and the Cold War's Most Daring Mission"...

...but I've not seen any other books, dealing with this topic...has anybody read other books with this theme, which he can recommend?

It is fiction and the third book in a "trilogy", but try Edward L. Beach's "Cold is the Sea"

The first two books in the trilogy are "Run, Silent, Run Deep" and "Dust on the Sea". They take place during WWII on American Fleet Boats. "Cold is the Sea" takes place during the Cold War on nukes.

The first two are probably the most realistic fictional submarine books I've read and the third is a very good yarn. Beach served on Fleet Boats during WWII and knows what he is talking about.

You can probably read the third book by itself and not be too lost. It has a few of the characters from the first two and makes a couple of references to them but it won't lose you. I actually read the third one first before I knew about the others. I scratched my head a few times but really enjoyed the book. I obviously got the impression that it wasn't a stand alone book and managed to find the previous ones.
This was over thirty years ago and before the internet, so I had to actually look in a bookstore for the others.

Great books. I always highly recommend them. :yeah:

:)
