OM Blunder

The Bismark transits the Denmark Strait off the coast of Iceland on May 22, 1941 per Wikipedia. Knowing that lurker is a stickler for history and would have included the Bismark TF and the Battle of the Denmark Strait in the OM campaign, I decided to sink her before she could break out out into the Atlantic and sink the Hood - a heroic deed that would give me everlasting fame. My major problem, or so I thought at the time, was that the closest campaign start date was February 1, 1941, over one hundred and twenty five days prior to that date. What to do? No problem, I thought. I can outwit lurker. It will be a piece of cake. After all I am a hardcore subsim captain trained on American subs and advised by the likes of RR, Capn Scurvy, hitman, gutted, aaronblood, kasmaronov, nisgeis, webster, and so on.

I sailed from port straight to an intercept point at the west end of the Denmark Strait, and arrived on February 8th, stopped the boat and turned off the engines to conserve fuel. Then I waited. I cranked up TC to 8192 and let the days roll by until May 18th. On the evening of 21st I received reports of enemy warshipts heading west in Strait. Classic lurker, on course and on schedule. Suddenly I came under fire from a warship heading east. It knocked out my forward torpedoes. I submerged to survey the damage. Then it dawned on me! I was attacked by a British warship!!! Huh?? It cannot be. Ut Oh! I realized that I am commanding a UBoat!!!!! The warships that were reported were not German -- they were-- allied. I can't attack the Bismark!!! She is on my side!!! @#$%&*!! That's was the end of that mission!

I could tell you why! :smug:

However, it would be a violation of Subsim.com's editorial policy that clearly states:

"We do not allow posts where people are called idiots, morons, etc. "

So I'm sorry, not allowed to tell you after all... not even in PM... :D

Well...If you go on U-571, that is an allied U-Boat. I think Lurker miss the detail.:O:

You can install OM with RSRDC. (yes? :06:). So, take a pigboat, navigate from Pearl to Denmark Straits, and watch the Bismarck. I think that is possible.

Or use FOTRS, and make a mission with Bismarck in the Pacific.:rotfl2:

Regards...kaleun?

With a bonehead move like that, you should have been promoted to "Commander in Charge of Naval Intelligence" Trust me, I've been interviewed by NIS, it's a HOOT!!!
