Crew/Damage repair

I am getting the hang of ATO. Are there any issues re placing crew and repairing damage? I did not see any threads in this forum. Is this addressed anywhere else?

Nope, but I have noticed once you dump a crewman you're again bound by the max # PO and O's designated to your type of ship when you try to recruit..

...BUT if you get some GOOD undesignated recruits you get the option after successful patrols to promote them and make them specialists (gunners not included). I've got almost 20 E6's and above on my crew mostly engineers and control room specialists. It works for officers as well.

:salute:

You should see my efficiency ratings per section, FULL green on all stations, all watch sections. I never need to go to red alert.

I need some advice re the crew. First, I cannot read German, so I have no idea of rank. What are the ranks of the German crew? Second, the damage crew is two sailors. Should I bring more aboard if they are offered?

I berth the gun crews. If they are at their battle stations and I submerge, are they vulnerable to depth charges, as in the American boats?

Anything else I need to know?

Berth the watch crew while submerged (O's in the conn, E's in the bunks).

I keep 1 good engineer, and one sensor oper in DC, and swap them out when they get fatigued. In emergencies when I have bulkhead damage I'll grab 2 engineers or anyone with high mech skills for DC, reverse for electrical repairs. Having an officer leading DC helps ALOT, but mind the skills- mech for mechanical repairs, elec for electrical repairs. Soon you'll get a DC bonus crewman, he doesn't need to be in the DC shop, but he needs to be alive.

I cannot read German so I do not know what the titles mean for crew other than lieutentants.
