Recommendations for a good video card please

I'd like to buy a new desktop.

Long time passed since I last choose a video card, and now I'm not very familiar
with the collection of good video cards fit for today's high resolution - high performance games.

I waited with this buy for SH5 hatch and now is the time.
I play high resolution / high texture games like SH5, BF2, COD, flight simulators and such.

So, what video cards are out there today that might suit my requirements?

Thanks, :salute:

ATI 5770 at 155 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-116-_-Product

Or

ATI 5850 at 285 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-494-_-Product

Those cards are by far the best Bang for buck cards for your requirements out there and the 5850 is just about overkill unless you are running 2 displays in my opinion.

Just find what fits your budget.

asus 5850 is the best bang for your money .
asus EAH5870 version 2 is overclockable with memory / gpu and vcore .

Have been running ati 5750 since Febuary. Could not be happier with the price/preformance ratio. No doubt, you can buy a better card, but not for 150 bucks. SH5 completely maxed out, no issues, no worries.:D

unless your not on a tight budget then i'd say the 5750 or the 5770 is your best value but if your looking for something to last you at least 5 years then its worth it to get the 5850.

if your not looking to spend big money for the absolute best fps and performance then any of the 4800 series cards work great even thou they arent the most advanced right now.

i have a nvidia 8800gt that runs sh5 just fine which is the same equivelent as the 9800 cards they sell now and when i was looking at the 260 or 275 cards i found they werent really big improvements enough to warrant the extra money for my needs.

i dont know if the nvidia 400 series cards are much improved or not just because i havent read much about them but with any card you choose make sure you take the time to read as much about it as you can and read the reviews carefully

And remember SOME have Lifetime warranties and some Don't.

Just avoid the ones that state no cables, no cd, manual or warranty and comes wrapped in a plain grey colored box with sender from china! :damn:
