HDMI Issue

I have an issue using HDMI with an AOC flatscreen TV. When analog is used the speakers work fine but when i use HDMI I get major distortion. I used another HDMI cable and the problem remains. Tech support from AOC will not reply to my inquiry so I was wondering if anyone here may have encountered a similar situation?

The TV is great and looks awesome with Far Cry 2 loaded in the PS3. So if worse comes to worse I will bypass the TV and use a digital compatible speaker system. Any suggestions???

i'm sure you've already done this, but make sure ps3 and tv are both set to hdmi input/output. i know for sure the ps3 needs to be set correctly, don't know ebough about aoc to know if its the same, but sony and samsung both have to be set to receive from hdmi.

edit--

i.e. audio settings on tv and ps3

Yep, done that. I tinkered with it a bit and I have to turn off the Dolby digital on the PS3 side to stop the distortion.
