XP lives on!
Microsoft has extended the lifespan of XP again, until summer 2010.
Official reason is that they want to support low budget notebooks with not too much memory on board - Vista demands far too high specs to support these. Ein Schelm wer Böses dabei denkt! :smug: |
I heard they're stopping production in June :-?
Link? because this would be very good news! |

It's still June, they say, but no more June 2008 but June 2010. P.S. But I oversaw that indeed the extended lifespan is for low budget PC manufacturers only. |
I cant see Microsoft stopping making of XP anytime soon. IIRC, they werent that happy with Vista themselves, so. ;)
|
Vista is a drain and as we all know a flop.
XP  |
I think Vista is dead to Microsoft. They're extending XP to cover themselves before releasing their new OS in 2010.

Ah, people, you understood that I was blowing the trumpet too early a bit...? XP will be delivered only to manufacturers of low budget laptops until June 2010 - beyond that, selling stop of XP continues to be june 2008. Patch support for XP is planned to stop in 2014.
Says the article which I read too fast in the first run. |
Ah, feck.
May pick up another copy before June for my next PC |
It's only XP Home...XP Pro, MCE, x64, etc. are still dead as of June.
