Escort guns

Is there a way to have the escorts fire their guns more often/sooner ? I.e., getting chased by an escort at 2 -3 km (or whatever) and they don't shoot at me.
The range for all of them is high enough, but for some reason they won't shoot until very close.
Makes it to easy deal with them, so would like them to fire sooner/longer distance.

John,

I think that it may be hard coded as I do not recall running into any file to adjust escort AI Crew/ Weapons values like that.

Will give me something to look for, though.

Good hunting,

Maybe they don't have any shell ?

It seems to me that this behaviour is impossible unless their guns are broken or they don't see you with their visual sensor...

:salute: Appreciate it ! Didn't even think of looking there. But in my defense, been busy solving OS problems on the wife's mac so my few brain cells are fried.

Thanks for the replies all.

Jeff,

Does that file also control your own AI crew who man the deck gun also?

I saw that file but was not sure if this controlled all AI guns or just on the boat.

Good hunting,

Iirc Bob, sensors.cfg controls your crew, etc. Sim.cfg controls ai boats, planes, etc.
Correct me if mistaken Jeff.

Or maybe I should say "modifies" their respective areas, and the .exe file controls them.
I.e., you can even delete these files and the game will run.

Interestingly, it seems the lack of firing when they should occurs more with corvettes.

FUBAR295 10-16-21 11:12 AM

Interesting. Any particular class???
