Fight Club Under The Sea
Kind of funny, but I'm a huge Chuck Palahniuk fan. And I bought his non-fiction book 'Stranger Than Fiction' at the same time I bought Silent Hunter III (about a year ago). But I never got around to reading the whole book.
It's reprints of articles he wrote for various magazines. Well one I just read, called The People Can, is about his tour of the USS Louisiana, SSBN-743, was reprinted from a magazine called NEST. It's a good read. Though if you're not a fan of Chuck's, probably not worth buying the whole book for just a nine page story. But if you see it at the library I recommend giving the story a read. Nothing ground breaking, just a peak into the life aboard a sub. Although he adds a bit at the end that wasn't in the mag. Like one sailor's slip in correcting Chuck's suggestion that it would be impossible to find a place to have sex on the boat (they were discussing the possiblity of women on subs). :rotfl: |
