Can anyone give me any advice on the easiest way to mark the waterline?

More pictures to come when I start painting and building :yep:

Ooh can't wait for this :)

When I did my Corvette I found the easiest way to do the waterline was to just simply get a looong piece of thin tamiya tape and just sort of go for it lol, stick it where you think you want it and it tends to be about right, but using a single length of thin stuff makes it easier to adjust the position once it's down, but also actually makes it easier to get a straight line in the first place.

Awesome indeed! Have fun with it. :yeah:

Just got the prima on and waiting for the MK 1 design kit with the wooden deck to arrive from a model shop in the USA (Georgia) which was sent out to me a week ago.

Sailor Steve 11-10-14 06:06 PM

Wow! Going whole-hog, eh? I've found that the greatest asset for building is patience. Take your time and you'll end up with a display piece you can really be proud of. :sunny:

Herr-Berbunch 11-10-14 07:27 PM

No! Glue it all together tonight, don't wait for other bits. Then paint it tomorrow - all of it. What could go wrong? :D

I expect regular progress reports, and good luck. :salute:

PS - once it's built - don't try heading for Brest too soon.

BossMark 11-12-14 06:46 AM

So this where I am now rudder and screw shaft mounts fitted and another coat of primer (this stuff takes 24 bloody hours to dry)

http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/...psc7b46f97.jpg
Tomorrow will be the fitting of the deck and masking out the waterline and painting.

That's going to cut into your drinking time, pubs around you may go out of business. :03::haha:

BossMark 11-13-14 06:17 AM

Now with waterline masked out and sprayed with Tamiya xf 69
http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/...psba138e27.jpg
Now I will have to wait for my life colour 606 to arrive to paint the bottom part of the hull, and then for my MK1 design kit to arrive from the states

Does anyone know if Bismarck had those black and white camouflage stripes during the battle of the Denmark straight ?
I think that they had been removed but I want to be 100% sure.

Sailor Steve 11-14-14 04:45 PM

This guy says they were not, and uses photographs to back himself up.

Me, I like the stripes. :sunny:

Be more daring and go for something a little more unusual.

Don't listen to Jim. He's just upset because somebody threw up all over his model. :O:
