Heavy stuttering
 

Thanks for reading this, I just cant figure this one out.


After a little while on break playing SH5 with TWoS megamod I just started again yesterday.
Sadly I encounter VERY heavy stuttering (like 10 FPS) with heavy mouse input lag, which makes the game impossible to play.
Even in Vanilla and fiddling around every graphic setting I encounter the same problems.
I didn´t change any of my hardware since my last playsesssion in october last year.

I would appreciate any kind of help!


My hardware:


Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4670K CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.40 GHz
16 GB RAM
AMD Radeon RX 580

Does it stutter all the time or at certain points?

Do you have anything else running that's using PC resources?

What does Task Manager show when the stuttering occurs?

Since you haven't played in some time... in close to 1/2 a year, I believe was what you stated... :hmmm:

Since then, Ubi changed up their launcher, which used to be called... "Uplay", to now being called "Connect"... so it may be that you will need to reinstall the whole shebang.

Sadly I was not able to "repair" the game.


The stuttering is very bad and occurs even in the pause menu - this is why I think graphics aren´t the problem.


Maybe a TWOS/installing thing?
I tried fresh installing the game multiple times.:06:

Which SH5 do you have Thomsen42? A Steam or Ubisoft download? A disk version? Something else? If a Steam install, did you run the game once without mods and "authorize" its licensing, then add TWoS? Is your game in "Offline" mode? What is the "native" resolution of your display monitor, and is windows set to the same "(recommended)" setting? Are you attempting to use an old Saved game in a newer version of TWoS?

I just tried to start my Steam SH5 Gold game for some examples of what I did with my install, and it and the Ubisoft version are arguing with each other over as to which has control of the game. Both start menus are running... They are in two different folders, and should NOT be attempting to run the other's install... so I'll have to sort my computer's SH5 issues once again. Needless to say, the UConnect updating my Steam install has wiped-out my TWoS install once again... sigh. These little apps are ~so~ helpful... NOT :salute:

firstly, thanks for the replies - after hours of working through them I just reseted my PC, sadly to no avail!:k_confused:

I downloaded the DVD sh5.exe and followed every step order after order, + ran with admin rights and Win7 compatability mode

In the interior of the boat the graphic glitches are unbearable + the framerate is at a record-low (as seen in the pictures) do you any tips or is my hardware just at odds with the game? Sadly I am now very frustrated with this whole situation :timeout:

I found the source of the glitches - it was a hardware problem on my side of things (GPU).
