Slow-time tutorial or written tutorial?

I'm finding this a very hard game, as it's not obvious when the sonar search range is in relative or true bearing mode, and many of the different views and stations that one has to work through to get a DC solution are hard to figure completely in the very short time one has available.

Has anyone produced a "slowed-down" tutorial (video) or any written material by way of a manual? I'd be deeply grateful to learn some.

It would also be valuable to have the ping and return of the ASDIC audible in all stations, as the returns were normally broadcast over speakers once a contact was made. One feature I really do NOT like is the sound of other escorts dropping charges, it's so loud they sound to be adjacent when they can be the other side of the convoy...

Since writing the above it's occurred to me that we need a manual/tutorial made that incorporates STILLS of instruments with explanations, as most video tutorials made by simply recording the game in real-time, lack the time for proper explanations made before the player needs to change to another station.

So for example, whilst I can copy the use of the TRR, I do not really understand, nor can gain understanding by watching videos, of what exactly it's supposed to be done and why....

I agree 100 percent with all these comments. Plus Ive watched a couple videos on the TRR and still do not really understand it. Oh how I cherish the days when sims came in a hefty box with a thick, printed and colorful manual!

Amen. On the other hand, we've a much richer development and player cooperative scene now, with lots of small developers providing excellent games/sims. Since writing the above I'd found the game a little easier. One area that needs improvement is in the AI. It ought be possible to set an order with which destroyers and corvettes attack the same target, so that they remain clear and provide bearings until it's their turn to attack. I am fed up with CBDR warning. Another useful feature would be being able to suppress, or leave text only, all radio traffic pertaining to other targets, so that calls pertaining to "your" target are given absolute priority...

Which remind me of a bug a few times now the text buffer has just cleared and ceased working on longer battles, and remained cleared until end of game.

I just set up a quick battle with some convoy ships and just one sub and my destoryer until I could get the hang of things.
