linking the compass tool to the target

Hello
I have read in the manual that you can draw a circle with the compass tool and then link it to a target. I am sure I have seen a video of this somewhere and dont think it was mentioned how this was done. I have the mega mod installed. Is it not working in this mod?
Also, there are a lot of instructionals that are now out of date as a result of pictures being deleted from sites. I imagine there are not enough SH4 players to warrant updating it.
So yeah, the compass tool, draw circle and attach the circle to a target that follows the target.
Thanks

That's interesting, never heard of that.

Mork_417 08-06-22 11:06 AM

They're not wrong, it is in the manual, Page 60. However, I've never seen it done. I'm guessing it may be an advertised feature that was never implemented. :hmmm:

Likely some... improvement that was planned... but... never got implemented... & some chowder head, in the manual department, failed to edit that out of it... maybe. :hmmm:

is it possible to look at the program for that navigation tool to see what is connected to it. if there are any buttons connected to it. as in, how do i open the game up and look at the programming to see the compass?
Thanks

My first thought from your question is this....

You probably don't have the skills nor the tools to do this.
I say that because if you did? You wouldn't ask.

And that is from someone that may have dug into the files more then many here.

i have found that trying to find the information that i am looking for by searching doesnt always yield results. if anyone has any idea how to open up a file and look at the program and knows where the compass tool is located, please just point.
only looking for answers here people, not some twatish remark.
thanks in advance...to those that offer help.

jeff can be a bit harsh, from time-to-time, as he has been viewing the same questions from different posters for many years, but what he posted was true.

you would need to crack the compiled code to find what you are seeking.
if anyone has done that, to date, which is doubtful, they would probably not broadcast it in a post because, potentially, you could get into trouble with Ubi, because they, Ubi, may consider it a violation of the the EULA that you-and-we agreed-to when we installed the program.

so....don't take it as a personal snub if no one provides a solution to your question. there are many who have asked the same question as you and dozens more, and the answer is unattainable. both the list of questions and askers is long and distinguished.

clearly, the SH4 user manual documentation is a slap-dash attempt and contains references to previous versions of Silent Hunter that are no longer available in SH4.

Sorry. I am a bit harsh at times. But like was said. We see vague questions over and over and over.
Any text editor will open the menu_1024_768.ini

One can open Base files like the SH4.exe and such with any Hex Editor.
One could also decompile the Game with other programs but THAT is high level stuff and just the question of 'how do you do that' shows skill/knowledge level.

Some can do it. But that is not talked about at SubSim much, if at all.

Then throw in the fact that SH4 and it's Base files are such a MESS from left over SH3 Coding that DOES NOT WORK?
It's like digging into a LandFill hoping to find a toothbrush that you threw away!

So I apologize for being a Twat.
The Wife just calls me a Richard Cranium.

HAHAHA That's a good way to get around an admonishment! Never heard that one before. I believe I will be using that one at work a few times with coworkers.

I've told Guys I hired "My name is Jeff. You can call me Richard Cranium."
Did that for over 12 years.

Sorry Jeff, that comment was not needed. I can imagine you answered a lot over the years and I am still new here.
All the best!

No problem Mate.
It was Me who was rude to you and I'm sorry.
I did do more checking and I can find NO link or clue to do what you want.
